| She met her husband, Matthew, at university, where he was studying architecture. They married in 1974 and have three grown up daughters, two of whom are married with their own families. She writes: 'Our grandchildren give us great pleasure, and it’s true what they say about being a grandparent – they are lots of fun, but you can hand them back when they get tiresome! Matthew and I both enjoy playing golf, and try to fit in a ski holiday every winter. We are also sad enough to love caravanning, much to our daughters’ disgust who had hoped we might have grown out of it by now - they certainly have! ' |
